The Medicine Shoppe

Our first project was the complete restoration of both planting beds at the DuBois Historical Society. Only one is shown.

Next the dead trees and old soil was removed from 3 street side planting beds.  They were replanted with Prairie King Crabapples, bulbs and perennials.

That's a long line of trees to water with just a gallon jug!

The Medicine Shoppe Pots

Shankel Pharmacy Planting Bed

Summer of 2006 we added three big weatherproof planting pots to the tree area at the Medicine Shoppe. Three more were added in 2009.

Our third major planting bed (Summer 2002) was built totally from scratch across Long Avenue from Shankel's Pharmacy. Stones, old cement and bricks filled the area but it is now great soil.

In 2007 we spent late summer building the "Bathtub" bed.  In the center is a claw foot tub over 100 years old.  Also there is an arbor at the end of the bath tub.  We hit the $1 plant sales all summer to fill it, and it practically overflowed with blooms the following summer.

Christmas Wreaths for the Plant Pots

In 2008 we finished what we call "The Long Mound" which was a major undertaking in that we inherited a lot of weeds with the soil.  We're hoping to make it a mountain of sunflowers in 2010.

We now have a Nursery Bed in which we can overwinter plants.

Lots of wreaths were made for the Christmas Season for the planting pot
